I'm writing a research paper for English class, and they all had to be about my major, or my future career, which is music. This one is about the future of classical music.
Does anyone remember growing up with the radio station 89.9 playing classical music, at least at night? They had some cool, funny things on otherwise, like jokes or funny music. It was like a classical Saturday Night Live. I think there was at least one other station around 89.9 that also played maybe a lot of classical music, but it was usually fuzzy from what I remember.
Remember, when we all went to church? I was in choir and always liked the music there. That was another time when we sang. Well, I know about the Catholic church and its hymns and new hymns. It seems they have stopped adding new hymns, however. It seems a lot of pop composers etc. started young in the later 1900s.
It seems competitive to get to play classical music, however. I used to be a Music Education and Music Performance major. It's sad to see people who are grown up and can't play a classical orchestral musical instrument. They must usually do choir for fun. I've done church choir age 8-20, and I quit to focus on practicing harder music to become a pro. I was hoping to be a violinist and also help people play who are adults and not accepted anywhere as far as performing goes. I feel similar about ballet and not having anywhere to go when I came home from college as a ballet minor.
Just admit it, pop music is taking over, and only old people and rich people attend things like musical theater and classical music ... and their children.
